Description

Hogle Zoo’s Management is announcing the opening of a full-time Animal Care position.
The Zoo is seeking qualified applicants for an Animal Care position, as Relief Keeper of the Tropics Zone of the Small Animal Building. This is a full-time, year round benefited position and includes responsibility for a diverse collection of animals.

Education and Pre-requisites

Applicants must be able to work effectively in a positive team environment, equally with guests, staff, and volunteers. Excellent communication including writing and public speaking skills will be necessary in the successful pursuit of this position. Degree in life sciences, biology, zoology or related field preferred. Two years paid experience in a keeper position required. Will also be trained to work in other animals areas of the Zoo, as assigned.

Applicant must be able to work under diverse and variable weather conditions, in close proximity to guests, able to lift over 60 pounds without injury, bend, stoop, jump and generally move quickly to avoid dangerous situations.

Compensation and benefits

This is a full-time, benefit eligible position. Compensation DOE.
