Entry rate: $22.06; 6 months; $23.45; 18 months: $24.92; 30 months: $26.48; 42 months: $28.15/hour

Status: One part-time position
Work Week: Friday through Tuesday (off Wednesday and Thursday)
Shift: Because this relief position fills in for the late keeper, assigned shifts will vary, and may include a schedule of up to five days a week on the late shift, five days a week on the day shift or a combination of the two.

The Late Routine Keeper performs established late routines for all animal care areas. The keeper in this position cares of a variety of exotic and domestic animals at the Oregon Zoo. Duties include cleaning animal holding and exhibit areas; observing animals and maintaining comprehensive records; assisting with breeding and research projects; and participating in the development and implementation of improved animal care and exhibit plans. Keepers also provide education, talks, tours and behind-the-scenes experiences for a variety of audiences. The person in this position will serve as a resource to other Animal Keepers, as needed, and may provide training and direction for volunteers, interns and temporary keepers. Lead direction is received from the Senior Animal Keeper.

Education and Pre-requisites

Three years professional animal keeper experience working with primates and large carnivores; and a Bachelors degree in biology, zoology, or related subjects relevant to the care of zoo animals; or any combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the classification duties and responsibilities.
