Description

The Organization:
For almost 40 years, Helping Hands: Monkey Helpers for the Disabled, Inc. has raised capuchin monkeys to be loving companions and dexterous helpers for people whose mobility is severely impaired. Our mission statement describes our goals, and the methods we use to achieve them:
Established in 1979, Helping Hands: Monkey Helpers for the Disabled is a national non-profit 501(3) organization that raises and trains capuchin monkeys to provide daily assistance to people living with spinal cord injury or other mobility impairments.
Helping Hands supports each service monkey and his or her human partner during their many years together through interactive mentoring of each placement, and close supervision of the monkey’s behavioral, nutritional and veterinary needs.
Relying on private contributions, Helping Hands provides these specially trained service animals and their lifetime support free of charge to our recipients.
Throughout its long history, Helping Hands has benefitted from a highly dedicated and professional staff supported by an actively engaged and committed board, and a cadre of long-time donors. We have a solid financial structure and clear financial commitments for the future.
Helping Hands is currently seeking a skilled and imaginative new Executive Director to join with us as we update our strategic vision to recognize and incorporate changes to adapt to meet future needs while also continuing our original mission of training, placing and providing life-long care to our service monkeys.
The Position:
The Board of Directors of Helping Hands: Monkey Helpers is conducting a nationwide search seeking qualified applicants for the position of Executive Director/President of the organization. The Executive Director will manage and implement three key areas of our efforts.

Finally, the ED works to realize the needs of our service monkeys as represented by the Director of Monkey Care.
