Position Summary:
The Oregon Zoo is pleased to be recruiting for a Conservation Impact Program Manager. Broadly, this position will be involved with support and evaluation of strategic zoo plans, developing and strengthening partnerships with institutions and organizations with common goals in conservation and community development, and other strategic initiatives. Specifically, this position will help the zoo to develop, track and measure progress towards accomplishing its conservation and education focus areas under the Zoo’s Strategic Plan. This position will also help build capacity for the entire zoo in outcome measurement and evaluation. The Conservation Impact Program Manager will develop stakeholder analyzes independently or with others, and will create and coordinate opportunities for evaluation capacity-building within animal care, conservation and education staff. This position will also serve as a primary point of contact for external evaluators working with zoo programs. This position will report to the Deputy Director – Care, Connection & Conservation.

The ideal candidate for the Conservation Impact Program Manager position is someone with a proven track record in program development and project management. When faced with challenges, the ideal candidate for this position provides creative problem solving skills to arrive at innovative solutions. This person also has a strong interest and capability for primary and secondary research and collaborates broadly, whether with internal staff and stakeholders, the community, representatives of other zoos or people from organizations with common conservation goals.

Education and Pre-requisites

• Three years of directly related professional experience in program development and evaluation; and
• A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Botany, Zoology or a related field; or
• Any combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job.
• A current valid drivers license
• Current membership in the Association of Zoos and Aquariums is preferred.
• A Master’s degree in education, human dimensions of conservation, zoology or a related field is preferred.
• Five or more years of experience in leadership of related programs is preferred.

Compensation and benefits

Salary: $75,400.00 – $101,025.60 annually
