Description
Wildlife Learning Center is seeking to fill a part-time animal care and educator position. The animal care and educator position is responsible for cleaning and maintaining enclosures, feeding, providing enrichment, monitoring animal health, providing public education, and performing other duties as assigned by supervisors. Employees give onsite and outreach education for schools, scout groups, libraries, birthday parties, and other organizations. Moderate to heavy lifting is required. Employees will work, hands-on, with multiple species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and arthropods.
Education and Pre-requisites
Mandatory Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in biology or a related science field
Experience handling and training restricted species
Experience working with children
Strong public speaking skills
Strong work ethic
Exceptionally good attitude and professionalism
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Effectively work in a team environment
Commitment to a flexible work schedule
Must have full weekend availability
Applicants must have a professional appearance and demeanor. Tattoos or body piercings must be coverable. Applicants must have a valid California driver’s license, clean driving record, social security number, and proof of personal auto insurance. All applicants are subject to a thorough background check. New hires are required to show a negative TB test, at own expense, within one month of employment.
Compensation and benefits
Starting pay rate is $15.00/hour.
