Romelia Farms Wildlife Preserve is a 501(C)(3) Non-Profit focused on preservation through community education of the animals that we have the honor and privilege to care for. Founded in 2021 with a mission to rescue 150 animals with an uncertain future, Romelia Farms is committed to ensuring that the animals that reside in our care have their quality of life and welfare placed above all else. This is their forever home filled with unconditional love and compassion, this is Romelia Farms! #ForTheAnimals In support of our incredible mission, we offer unique interactions with our animals through a guided, educationally focused, petting zoo tour as well as equine experiences with our amazing horses and their knowledgeable and experienced care team.
We’re hiring for experienced animal care team members who can assist in our mission and vision!
Job Description:
-Prepare and distribute diets.
-Provide clean water for every animal daily.
-Meticulously clean animal enclosures daily.
-Monitor animal health daily and report to management.
-Administer medications prescribed by the vet.
-Groom all animals as necessary (baths, hoof trimming, shearing, etc)
-Help maintain grounds and enclosures.
-Lead Tours
-Help with events and weddings when needed.
-Assist in maintaining animal records.
-Complete daily checklist
-Able work weekends, holidays, and as needed to care for the animals.
-This is a dirty job involving heavy physical labor, and daily exposure to common allergens. It is also intense, emotionally challenging work.
-Up to 10+ hr shifts
Education and Pre-requisites
-Preferred 6 months animal care experience
-knowledge and ability to handle domestic and exotic animals.
-Ability to collaborate effectively and work as a team.
-Lift, carry, and push up to 50lbs
-Ability to work well and communicate effectively with the public, fellow team members, and volunteers.
-Problem solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively.
-Must be compassionate, love animals, and have a positive attitude.
Compensation and benefits
Starting at $10/hr +
