Position Objective: To assist Zoological Health Program (ZHP) staff in all aspects of daily hospital functions.
Principal Responsibilities:
Clean, disinfect and maintain all animal enclosures and wards as directed.
Clean and maintain ZHP environs.
Preparing regular and prescription diets and formulas as ordered by veterinarians
Feed and care of hospitalized and quarantined animals in the ZHP facilities under supervision of Hospital Assistant, Assistant Director or Veterinarian
Provide logistical support for in-hospital and field procedures.
Assist in inventory orders and record keeping
Implement and maintain infectious disease control procedures throughout the facility
Assist ZHP employees with basic needs within their workspaces
Daily maintenance of incubators and other similar environmentally controlled enclosures.
Clean, maintain and refuel the WHC vehicles
Perform related tasks and duties as required and/or assigned
Assist in clean-up and putting away of medical equipment and supplies after veterinary procedures.
Contribute to, enlarge and uphold the Society’s policies toward Equal Employment Opportunities for women, minorities, veterans, the handicapped and other protected groups.
Education and Pre-requisites
Qualification Requirements :
Applicant must have successfully graduated from High School (or obtained a GED) and must have completed one year of college.
Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral English; ability to function effectively in a complex healthcare setting.
Minimum six months experience in a veterinary clinic, research, zoo, or laboratory animal facility;
Basic computer skills
Driver’s License
