Description
The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation’s most effective animal advocacy organization, is seeking a Senior Coordinator, Outreach and Development for our Black Beauty Ranch (BBR) in Murchison, Texas. In this position you will coordinate all public outreach and assist philanthropy with fundraising efforts for the sanctuary and act as the center’s liaison with all HSUS campaign, philanthropy, marketing, and media departments. You will also ensure that advocacy goals are met through onsite visitation, media coverage and online communications.
Responsibilities:
Works with philanthropy to develop, plan, and manage revenue generating events for Black Beauty Ranch (BBR). Oversees event planning, coordination, implementation, budget and logistics, including dinners, on-site donor visits, Ranch tours, donor accommodations and donor itineraries. Works with relevant HSUS philanthropy directors to support donor stewardship throughout the process. Ensures educational components are included in all activities;
Coordinates with office manager and philanthropy for all event RSVPs via mail, email, and phone and responds to questions and inquiries by donors and guests as required; communicates with sponsors when needed and prepares post-event follow up mailings;
Works with Philanthropy, Planned-Giving, Business Development, Corporate Relations and partnering organizations to formulate and implement comprehensive BBR fundraising plans and secure sponsorships and grants. Ensures BBR sponsors/donors are properly recognized in all correspondence, reports, and materials, according to contractual agreements;
Manages social media pages for BBR. Posts consistently to promote BBR, including a variety of topics that adhere to HSUS Social Media Guidelines;
Administers, promotes, and oversees the BBR volunteer program. Provides volunteer supervision as needed;
Networks with community organizations and businesses to promote the HSUS mission and uses a variety of communication strategies to build local brand awareness of BBR. Assists marketing & Comms efforts among core constituencies, including center supporters, animal advocates of all ages, humane educators, and corporate sponsors. Provides content for collateral and PR copy for print, web and social distribution;
Works with integrated marketing department to support and provide content for an online strategy to advance awareness of BBR nationally and locally.
Qualifications and Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience preferred;
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in outreach and development, preferably in a similar nonprofit organization or in animal care field;
Experience in planning charity events & humane education is a plus;
Excellent project management, written and oral communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail;
Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Access);
Understanding of and interest in animal-related issues;
Good organizational, planning, and time management skills with demonstrated flexibility and the ability to manage multiple projects and issues of varying complexity, while meeting time sensitive deadlines and deliverables;
Must be able to move/lift packages weighing up to 40 lbs;
Flexible schedule and be available on weekends as needed;
Ability to maintain confidentiality of donor, constituent and other sensitive information;
Must be able to obtain a Texas driver’s license and be insurable;

This is a full time position located in Murchison, TX.

Compensation and benefits
The general range for this position is $25.00 – 29.80 per hour, plus full benefits. Salary offers will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, skills, training and education.
