Description
Position open for Spring Internship starting in January and ending in May. Position can be extended into our summer camp season if desired, but the job description does change.
Cub Creek Science Camp, located in Rolla, Missouri, is home to 300 exotic and domestic animals. We are also licensed by the state as native species rehabilitators. We are seeking full-time animal interns to help care for our critters.
Applicants must be able to work independently, be motivated, able to do physically demanding work, be observant to notice even the slightest changes in animal habits and behaviors and be able to work well with the team that they will also share housing with. Comfort speaking in front of a group is valued as we give tours and host school groups throughout the season.
Interns work with a variety of species from hoofstock to lemurs to porcupines to foxes to parrots. Primary responsibilities are feeding, detailed cleaning, diet preparation, enrichment, training, socialization, documentation, habitat construction and tours.
Education and Pre-requisites
A degree in Animal Sciences or related field is preferred, but experience with exotic animal husbandry will be considered.
Compensation and benefits
$150 per week.
Shared housing is provided.
Amenities include heat, A/C, utilities paid, full bath, kitchen, satellite TV, internet service. Laundry facility on the property.
