Description
Tigers for Tomorrow is a non-profit facility dedicated to the well-being, safety and care of all animals. The facility is located in Northeast Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Tigers for Tomorrow has positions available for 3 and 6 month, full time interns. Tigers for Tomorrow is home to over 160 animals and is a last stop. Work is physically demanding, and being self-motivated while working in a team environment is important. Working in various weather conditions is required as well as weekends and holidays. This is a strict no contact with predators positions.
Basic husbandry of horses, farmyard animals, hoofstock, and big cats bears and wolves
Cleaning and maintaining habitats and animal housing
Prepare diets and monitor feeding daily
Make daily observations of animals and report any abnormalities to supervisor
Providing animal enrichment
Presenting and educating the public by means of tours and talking with the public
Education and Pre-requisites
Intern should be working towards/or have a degree in Zoology, Biology or related field or a degree in a related field is preferred, but experience with exotic animal husbandry may be considered.
Must have a valid driver license and transportation.
Compensation and benefits
Stipends depends on length of internship. Housing is provided nearby. All utilities are paid.
