Description
The goal of the Phoenix Zoo’s Keeper Internship program is to offer practical hands-on experience for those interested in the Zookeeping field. The Keeper Intern will gain experience in husbandry, enrichment, animal observation, nutrition/diets, and animal/species knowledge. Our internship is an in-depth program requiring a commitment of 30-40 hours per week for a minimum of 10 weeks. Our collection is divided by taxon and Zookeeper Internships are available on these trails: Birds; Carnivore; Equine/Farm; Elephants; Hoofstock; Nutrition; Primates; and Reptiles.
This is an unpaid position and no housing is provided. Interns are considered volunteers therefore no medical coverage is included. Interns must be available to work weekdays, weekends and holidays and internships are available year round.
