Description

Candidate must have knowledge of the care and maintenance of amphibians, reptiles, and terrestrial invertebrates in captivity. The keeper will be required to perform animal care duties for a variety of reptiles, amphibians, and terrestrial invertebrates under the supervision of Herpetology/Invertebrate managers. Other duties include cleaning, building small exhibits, maintenance of life-support systems and enclosure, maintenance of food cultures, and other supportive tasks for the operation of the department.

Education and Pre-requisites

A bachelor’s degree in zoology or a related field and previous work experience in a similar zoo setting are preferred. A combination of experience and education to fulfill the necessary skills and requirements for the position may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.  Experience working with venomous reptiles and large crocodilians preferred.   Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the Zoo fleet insurance carrier.
