Description
Project Survival’s Cat Haven, a 501c3 non-profit, located in Dunlap, Ca, is looking for a carnivore keeper, with an emphasis on training and ambassador work. Starting pay is $16.50 per hour. Medical benefits, vacation and sick time offered. Schedule is four ten hour days, weekends, holiday and evening work to be expected.
Cat Haven houses 39 exotic cats on 93 acres, in the Sierra Nevada mountains, located minutes from Kings Canyon National Park. Its mission is to help conserve wild cat populations, by education of the public.
The keeper position will focus on daily husbandry; including but not limited to-cleaning, feeding, enrichment, training, cub rearing, public speaking, program animal off-sites/on-sites, enclosure maintenance, grounds work, etc. We have a large ambassador cat program, which includes harnessing, and walking ambadsador cats, being comfortable with handling in front of crowds, and public speaking. We are located in the foothills, and ambassador cat walks do include steep incline hikes, in hot and dry weather.
This list is not intended to be all inclusive. Reasonable tasks can be expected, based on facilty needs.
Work setting is in an extreme environment. Temperatures drastically vary from 100+ degree dry days in summer, to freezing and wet in winter. Location is on the side of a ridge, with intense inclines and dirt paths. Local flora and fauna include rattle snakes, tarantulas, poison oak, and wasps, and all are found on property. Proper handling of rattle snakes will be taught, as they are removed from property to a remote location.

Education and Pre-requisites
