Description
Fossil Rim Wildlife Center has an opening for an Animal Care Specialist—Hoofstock. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing animal care, monitoring animal health, accurate record keeping, reporting, cleaning, animal area maintenance, and visitor interaction. Qualifications must include experience with hoofstock management (semi-free ranging preferable), animal restraint, record keeping, some maintenance, possess valid driver’s license, and public speaking. The position will work with all aspects of the hoofstock collection at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, will have a focus area, and be cross-trained in other areas within the hoofstock department—including giraffe and rhinos. This position can be physically demanding, requiring heavy lifting (up to 75 pounds), and adverse weather conditions are common. The candidate must be a team player as well as able to work alone. A degree in wildlife management, biology, zoology, or related field, and at least two years of practical experience is preferred. Work schedule will be five days a week including weekends and holidays as needed. The position is full time hourly.
