Description
The Gulf Breeze Zoo is a 80-acre facility located in the beautiful Florida panhandle. This ZAA-Accredited facility is home to a diverse collection of animals, with the collection consisting of Nile and pygmy hippos, white and Indian rhinos, giraffe, other various hoofed stock species, gorillas, orangutans, a myriad of smaller primates, large cats, bears, a petting area, and a wide assortment of birds and reptiles.
Gulf Breeze Zoo is rapidly growing and in search of a motivated Certified Veterinary Technician.
Currently Seeking:
The Gulf Breeze Zoo encourages you to apply if you are an energetic and hardworking individual who shares a passion for animal care. We are expanding our current care team with the addition of a certified vet tech. This is new position that will aid basic vet care throughout the park, vet rounds, as well as help manage our onsite clinic. This position is currently part-time.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Compiling the monthly vet/medical report
• Make sure there are current medication sheets for all meds being administered
• Maintain a current vet clinic inventory
• Clinic supply ordering
• Aid in vet rounds throughout the zoo and take proper notes during vet visit
• Keeping track of monthly and quarterly fecal schedule
• Run all necessary fecal tests
• Keeping track of monthly and quarterly deworming schedule
• Prepare necessary medications for deworming schedule
Education and Pre-requisites
Applicant must be a Certified Veterinary Technician. Previous experience with exotic animals feeding, care, and exhibit cleaning/maintenance is beneficial.
All applicants must be able to work in all types of weather. Applicants must possess a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and excellent communication skills. Ability to follow a strict personal dress code and maintain a valid driver’s license is required.
