Are you fascinated by food? Go nuts for nutrition? Have a passion for produce? Tanganyika Wildlife Park in Goddard, KS is looking for hardworking, self-motivated, dedicated individuals to join our animal care staff.
As Commissary Keeper, you will be responsible for preparing diets for our animals that get fruits and vegetables. While this position does not work directly with animals, you will be working closely with the Primate Team and assisting them with enrichment and other projects. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, and are looking for a way to combine your love of food prep and passion for animals, then this is the job for you!
Basic Duties Include:
• Preparing produce diets for hoofstock, birds, primates, and reptiles, including cutting produce, cooking vegetables and eggs, and other items as instructed. (Note: this position does NOT include dealing with meat/prey items, insects, or fish)
• Washing dishes
• Maintaining kitchen cleanliness
• Maintaining organization in the walk-in cooler and refrigerator
• Restocking the kitchen and completing diet prep for the following day
• Organizing all outgoing diets and delivering to animal areas for Keepers to distribute
• Inventorying items and notifying supervisor of orders needing to be made
• Assist Primate Team with enrichment and projects
• Occasional guest engagement while in the park, during behind the scene tours of commissary, and some camp/guest activities
Education and Pre-requisites
Requirements:
• Must have a basic understanding of the nutritional value of fruits and vegetables
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
• Must be able to stand and walk for up to 8 hours per day with frequent stooping and bending
• Must be able to routinely lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds

• Year round, full-time position
• Starting hourly rate of $13/hr
