Description
Seeking a charismatic tour guide to drive trams and conduct educational tours throughout a 104-acre wildlife park. Candidate must have good retention ability for extensive animal facts and must be comfortable driving large, manual transmission vehicles. Must be very comfortable with public speaking and must be able to handle the physical exertion associated with an outdoor wildlife position (stooping, standing, lifting 50 lb.s on a daily basis). Position is part-time (25+ hours per week) with the possibility of a full-time schedule in the future. Schedule includes weekdays, weekends, and holidays as assigned. Applicants must be willing to work outside in extreme temperatures and must be able to cope with a high volume of visitors. We will be focusing our search within the state of Arizona, however, if the applicant is motivated and willing to relocate for immediate employment, exceptions will be made. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, driving trams to shuttle visitors to different areas of the park, conduction hour-long Unimog Safari tours, cleaning vehicles, directing visitors to park events, answering guest queries, and other tasks as needed.
Education and Pre-requisites
Degree in Biology or related field is preferred. Valid drivers license. Applicants must have good observation and communication skills, work harmoniously with fellow staff and supervisors, and be able to work independently. An outgoing, positive personality is essential. Background in large animal husbandry and public speaking preferred. Ability to drive large vehicles and stick shifts a plus.
Compensation and benefits
$9.00/hour plus tips.
