We forge valuable relationships and partnerships with governments, communities, the private sector, and NGOs; and by sharing information resources including the historic record of WCS’s 125 years of leadership in wildlife conservation and zoological expertise.

Position Objectives:

The Associate Manager, Government & Community Affairs is a full-time position based in the Public Affairs division of Wildlife Conservation Society located at the Bronx Zoo, Bronx, NY. This position serves in a project management capacity to execute all Public Affairs events, support VIP visits, government application and report submission, communication collateral and data management.

Principal Responsibilities:

Organize in-park community events, press events, and other internal and external Public Affairs events, working closely with Senior Manager, Public Affairs Organize and support VIP tours

Manage on-site and off-site tabling opportunities and in-park advocacy engagement such as petition signature collection

Make preparations for all onsite and offsite community engagement

Organize youth for civic engagement opportunities and various events

Oversee contributions to and review of government reports and applications, department monthly updates and newsletters, invitations, various contact lists

Update, assemble and distribute internal and external communications and materials such as briefing folders, factsheets, letters, presentations, email newsletter, and email design

Track relevant city and state legislation related to cultural organizations

Oversee, organize and maintain data and document management as needed including contacts and list maintenance, information organization, and lobby reporting through Salesforce

Oversee Community Access Program

Serve as liaison to community-based partners and NYC agencies

Oversee management of electronic and hard copy filing system and file materials

Oversee and maintain inventory of promotional items

Assist with setting up meetings as needed

Work on initiatives at the discretion of the EVP

Education and Pre-requisites

Bachelor’s degree in political science, communications or related field preferred

Minimum of 3 years related experience

Availability for after-hours and weekend events required

Knowledge of Microsoft Office/Teams and Google; Salesforce competence a plus

Compensation and benefits

Salary Requirements: $60,000 – $70,000
