Job Description:
Employee is responsible for assisting with the care and well being of resident animals including; diet preparation, feeding and watering, animal husbandry and enrichment activities, noting behavior abnormalities, and cleaning, disinfecting and maintenance of enclosures ie; inspect enclosures, fencing, pools for cleanliness and structural defects and make minor repairs as necessary. May also assist with guided visits to guests. Other tasks include maintaining sanctuary grounds ie: maintaining habitats and pools, tree trimming, mowing, weed whacking, gardening, digging, minor construction repairs, construction of habitats, event set up/break down and overall environmental maintenance. Other duties as assigned.

Lions, Tigers & Bears (LTB) is a federally and state licensed non-profit 501 (c)(3) rescue facility dedicated to providing a safe haven for abused and abandoned exotic animals while providing an educational forum for the public to learn about the plight of the exotic animal trade and ways they can help mitigate its effects. LTB is a NO KILL, NO BREED and NO SELL facility that allows animals in its care the opportunity to live out their lives with dignity in a caring and safe environment. LTB is one of few sanctuaries in the United States with the highest level of accreditation from the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries and the American Sanctuary Association.
Education and Pre-requisites
Qualifications:
Prior experience working with and around exotic animals, with proven ability to provide day to day husbandry and maintenance support is required. In particular, experience with Felidae and Ursidae species. Bachelors/Masters degree in Biology, Zoology, Animal Behavior or a similar field is a plus.
Must have a can-do attitude, be a team player, excellent communication skills and the ability to follow directions in both the written and oral form. Must have a love for animals and be passionate about our mission and follow all safety protocols and guidelines.
Minimum requirements:
The ability to lift up to 60 pounds, ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl and walk on uneven terrain, ability to work in inclement weather conditions including extreme heat and cold depending on the season, ability to work a varying schedule with flexibility in mind, ability to operate power tools and complete minor construction tasks, ability to follow oral and written directions, ability to understand hazards and risks and apply proper safety precautions for a safe working environment, ability to multi-task. Driver’s license, specialized skills and experience operating 4-wheel drive carts, trucks and ATV’s is a plus.
