Description

Full Time – Invertebrate Keeper

Candidate must have knowledge of the care and maintenance of invertebrates, especially butterflies, in captivity as well as knowledge of reptile and amphibian husbandry. The keeper will be required to perform animal care duties for a variety of reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates under the supervision of the Curator of Herpetology and Invertebrates and lead keeper. Other duties include cleaning, building small exhibits, maintenance of life-support systems and enclosure, maintenance of food cultures, and other supportive tasks for the operation of the department.

A bachelor’s degree in zoology or a related field and previous work experience in a similar zoo setting are preferred. A combination of experience and education to fulfill the necessary skills and requirements for the position may be considered in lieu of a formal degree. Experience working with invertebrate collections with an emphasis on butterflies is preferred. Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the Zoo fleet insurance carrier.
