Description

Looking for an outreach educator and mobile petting zoo assistant. Will be responsible to present a variety of programs using a variety of live animals to small and large groups. Will also be responsible to set up petting zoos, zoo displays and exhibits in a variety of venues. Will also be doing outreach pony parties as needed Will be responsible to interact with guest, answer questions. Will also be responsible to assist with live nativity outreach in December.
Person must be great with people, passionate about bringing people and animals together, able to handle some long days, able to be quick on their feet, thrives in a challenging face pace environment. Able to be clean, neat and organized. Able to see the small and big picture while dealing with the little details. Will also be trained to do onsite tours and encounters.

Education and Pre-requisites

basic knowledge of small animals
basic knowledge of farm animals
experience handling, presenting and caring for a variety of animals.
ability to drive a truck and trailer or willing to learn
basic knowledge on animal training
able to saddle, halter a pony or willing to learn
able to lift 50 lbs
able to handle crisis well
able to work with people in all circumstances well
quick learner
ability to multi-task
able to follow directions and deal with rush hour traffic

Ideally looking for someone with farm animal and pony experience or petting zoo experience that can drive a truck and trailer or has driven large vehicles. Wiling to train on part of the job but need to have experience either as an outreach presenter with a variety of animals or experience doing petting zoos and pony rides or with small farm animals

Compensation and benefits

pay consummate with experience.
Looking for either someone with enough experience to take on assistant of outreach programs or part – time- seasonal help that has a minimal amount of experience but is willing to train and is a fast learner.

Housing can be provided for part -time seasonal help (Sept – December) possibility to become full time job in March
