Position Objective:

This position will be primarily responsible for managing projects related to the redesign of WCS’s payroll processes both in current system environment (SAP) and through the transition to a future payroll system environment. Management

Responsibilities:

Assist Director of Payroll to develop and manage the payroll projects that are part of a broader Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) project to select and transition to a new systems environment. Projects will include, but not be limited to:

Review and recommendations relating to the organizational structure of the department to align the systems, processes and capabilities (skills and competencies) required to execute payroll in the future state.

Analysis and recommendations relating to system alternatives and vendors

Review current payroll operations to develop projects designed to strengthen controls and improve current processes in the gap between the current and future payroll states

Help develop change management program as the future state program evolves

Inventory the full scope of processes currently managed within the payroll function and lead analysis of whether they should remain within the future state operation

Document relevant processes as part of the project deliverables.

Responsible for testing in support of payroll projects

Active participation with team assigned to review and replace Timekeeping/Time and Effort/Cost allocation platforms.

Participation in regular ERP and payroll project meetings will commence immediately upon hire. The Manager, Payroll Transition will also immerse themselves in the current operations of the WCS payroll department in order to gain a comprehensive understanding of current domestic and international payroll operations. The Manager will be expected to assist with payroll processing during the ramp up phase and gain hands on familiarity with the current tools and processes in order to assist Director of Payroll with current operation redesign projects.

Principal Responsibilities

Key participant in payroll department systems review and analysis projects, and strategic function transformation projects

Actively participate in ERP systems project meetings as proponent and subject matter expert of payroll function

Assist with payroll processing during ramp up phase and as otherwise needed

Assist Director of Payroll in assessing current state of operations so that tactical changes can be designed with control and efficiency in mind to improve service and decrease cost and risk in the period until the new payroll operation is integrated

Other duties as assigned by the Director of Payroll

Education and Pre-requisites

5+ years US payroll experience
US payroll and payroll accounting preferably with some exposure to SAP
1+ years multi-country global payroll experience
Project management experience
Payroll transition program experience
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel
Ability to work independently and to use good judgment in decision-making.
Detail orientation
Professional oral and written communications skills (email, Skype, Teams)
Responsive to clients and stakeholders
Ability to cope under pressure and adjust to changing priorities
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related preferred
CPP a plus
Expatriate payroll knowledge/experience a plus
This position will be on-site (3 days per week) at Bronx Zoo

Salary Range: $90,000 – $110,000
