Description
The Oklahoma Primate Sanctuary is seeking a full-time caregiver to aid in the care of over 100 primates. OPS is a non-profit sanctuary dedicated to the lifelong care of primates retired from research and the pet trade, and is not open to the public. We are looking for a caregiver who is enthusiastic about their work, can work independently and as part of a team, and able to work primarily outside in a physically demanding job in all extremes of weather.
Successful candidate will be expected to:
– Be able to left 50lbs
– Have good time management and organizational skills
– Feed and prepare diets.
– Hose and clean enclosures, houses, and adjacent areas.
– Provide, build, and maintain enrichment projects.
– Perform light maintenance.
– Record daily notes and make routine observations of overall health and behavior.
– Work a set schedule with the expectation of flexibility when necessary.
Education and Pre-requisites
-Seeking a candidate with relevant experience with primates and/or other exotic species in a professional setting.
-Internships and at least one year of volunteer work will be considered.
-Knowledge of operant conditioning and behavioral husbandry preferred.
– COVID vaccination
– Negative TB test
Compensation and benefits
-Starting pay is $11.50/hr with 40hrs paid time off per year, as well as holiday pay.
-On-site housing with all utilities paid available.
