KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist in administering fluids and medications.
• Work with a multitude of exotic animals, including amphibians, reptiles, birds, etc.
• Routine fecal analysis of multiple species.
• Assist with minor surgical procedures under general anesthesia.
• Assess and monitor during general anesthesia.
• Responsible for treatments of hospitalized animals.
• In-house cytology and blood work.
• Room management and record keeping.
• Facilitate communication between vet and clients.
• Other duties as assigned.
IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES
• Experience in handling exotic animals is preferred.
• Strong written, verbal, and leadership skills.
• High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and the ability to practice extreme discretion, tact, and diplomacy.
• Ability to work well with a team.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Full time (Monday-Friday), some weekends.
• May be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises, and animal feces. May be exposed to bites, scratches, and contagious diseases.
• Ability to lift, bend, and twist.
