Description
Serves as Part-time Zoo Volunteer Coordinator, responsible for assisting with planning, implementing, and overseeing volunteer programs for the Zoo.
Education and Pre-requisites
Bachelor’s degree in volunteer or non-profit management, human resources, community development, education or related field preferred. Post-secondary education in biology, zoology or related life sciences also preferred. A combination of education, training, and experience will be considered in lieu of degree. Working knowledge of department functions and ability to direct educational and interpretive programs, activities, operations consistent with program goals. Ability to supervise and direct assigned personnel, including interviewing applicants, making work assignments, providing training and corrective instruction. Ability to make public speaking presentations, and effectively communicate orally and in writing with co-workers, other recreation organizations, program participants, and the public, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities. Ability to tailor programs for a variety of audiences, using language and activities appropriate for each group’s needs. Ability to engage with visitors and provide quality customer service. Ability to regularly work weekend and holiday hours. Must possess valid driver’s license and demonstrated safe driving record.
