Description
Zootastic Park located in Troutman, North Carolina is seeking skilled professionals with experience working with exotic animals. Zootastic maintains a highly diverse collection of animals and is open year-round. We are looking for self motivated, energetic staff members to contribute to our team.
BASIC DUTIES:
Prepare prescribed diets as well as feed and water animals.
Clean and sanitize enclosures as well as maintain good observation of issues associated with upkeep of structures and animal housing.
Assist with animal health care and reporting of concerns to veterinarian and other staff members.
Provide routine animal handling.
Cross trains with other keepers and staff members.
Education and Pre-requisites
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent, prefer advanced degree in zoology, biology, animal husbandry or related field. Minimum of 2 years experience working with exotic animals.
Valid drivers license required.
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens.
Good communication skills involving oral, written, Word, Excel, and other necessary communications to enable good record keeping as well as positive customer interactions.
WORK DEMANDS:
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on a frequent basis.
Work in heat, cold and adverse weather conditions.
Mobile to transverse uneven, slippery, and irregular land surfaces.
Ability to work unsupervised for extended periods.
Self motivated and good with time management.
Flexible to work varied schedule including weekends and holidays.
Compensation and benefits
$11.00/hr to start
